KATIKATI BASE

Katikati is ideally situated as a accommodation base for site-seeing and daily trips. Quite often visitors to NZ fly into Auckland International Airport and if they are going South they drive over the Bombay Hills and stay on Highway 1. This takes you through farm land onto Hamilton and staright down the middle of the North Island or to Rotorua then Taupo. Not too much to see and do on this leg of H/W 1.

By turning off S/H1 at the bottom of the Bombay Hills you drive along S/H2 and travel towards Tauranga. On the way you pass through Waihi, a gold mining town (plenty to see there) then onto Katikati.
